Celebrating International Women’s Day with YACAP SL

Commemorating International Women’s Day: Celebrating Progress and Addressing Challenges

As we mark International Women’s Day, the Youth and Children’s Advocacy Panel (YACAP) in Sierra Leone is proud to commemorate the significant strides made by the government in promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment. The Gender and Women’s Empowerment Act has been a bedrock in achieving this progress.

Our event aimed to complement the government’s efforts and shine a light on the persisting challenges faced by women in our society. We believe that it’s not just about celebrating women but also about acknowledging the issues they face and offering solutions for immediate action.

Empowering Together: YACAP’s Event for Gender Equality and Social Change

The event featured a range of activities that showcased the struggles of women in our society, from gender-based violence to economic inequality. We had 250 young participants from diverse sectors and communities across the country, all united in their passion for gender equality.

This year’s theme, “Let’s Inspire Inclusion,” resonated with us all. We recognize that gender equality is not just a women’s issue but a human rights issue that affects us all. We need to work together to create a world where everyone feels respected, valued, and empowered.

A Message of Hope and Determination: Let’s Make Gender Equality a Reality

As we reflect on the progress made by women in all spheres of life, we also acknowledge the challenges that still exist. We recommit to addressing these challenges and working towards a more inclusive society.

We extend our gratitude to our partners, guests, and participants for making this event a success. Your efforts in creating a safer space for women are truly appreciated.

Let us continue to inspire inclusion and work towards a world where gender equality is a reality for all.
